Miniskirt Design

Let’s say you have a project to sew a layered miniskirt and you want to apply all the design principles in it. There are many things to consider in selecting the sizes, forms, and or colors to express the concepts of contrast, repetition, alignment, and space in a dress or in a skirt. In my example, I am going to use color to show contrast and form and size to reveal repetition. Recently I have seen such a skirt in Kohls and liked it. I think, this style is perfect for going to disco. I can change my dress for this kind of miniskirt.
Because my miniskirt is going to have three layers, I have purchased three cotton fabrics which are similar in their pattern or form but different in color. Color difference will add a contrast to the design when the skirt is put together, and pattern similarity will contribute to the repetition and space in the design. In addition, the identical height of miniskirt’s layers will enhance the presence of repetitive elements in the miniskirt and strengthen alignment.
As far as the principle of alignment, I plan to execute a vertical symmetry in the design. That means if the skirt is divided in two parts in the center, left side should be an exact reflection of the right side of the skirt. This equal vertical division of the skirt will balance out well with the identical horizontal layers and bring out the contrast of color to the foreground. Such a layered miniskirt you can find in Kohls Coupons, Sears Coupon Code, or Target Promo Code. Space in this miniskirtis created by the combination of color and pattern of the layers. It is different from a dress. Since our patterns repeat and of the same size and color, they look unified on the multi-colored background.
In conclusion, the concepts of contrast, repetition, alignment, and space vital for a strong and interesting design. It is important for the designer to understand the essence of each concept and be able to apply it in practice.
